What is Litcadia?

Litcadia - the book tracker for every reader.

Litcadia is a book tracker for every reader.

I’ve tried a lot of book trackers, and every time, for reasons I can't fully explain, I always end up back at the start: Goodreads. It’s familiar, and I know where everything is. It's the most uncomfortable comfort zone, and it had a pull on me I was unable to escape despite being stuck in the early days of the interwebs with its design and features.

Then we have StoryGraph, who dominates in the bookish challenges market, but still, it is also missing something... The imports between the two were frustrating and inaccurate, and some of the information was overwhelming at times. Not to mention updating multiple apps was driving me a little insane, when all I really wanted to do was read my damn books.

For myself and most readers I've met, this is a tale as old as time. How do these apps have us at their mercy with a few things we love, yet miss the mark on the things we need.

So I asked myself: what if I merged the things I love into one place?

Where did Litcadia come from?

As some of you know, I have been running a book club for the past few years on discord (Reading Between the Vines aka RBTV). Turns out a lot of my friends were having the same issues I was: going from one tracker for stats, another for community and information, then another for quests, and so on while also juggling life and jobs and kids and pets and on and on and on...

So, I built Litcadia (LC) with three ideas in mind:

  1. Keep it familiar. Our layout is simple, and mirrors trackers readers already know and are familiar with.

  2. Borrow what's great, ditch what is unnecessary. Don't over complicate things, take the best features from all the apps and make them cohesive, then build on that.

  3. Ask other readers. The heart of Litcadia is its readers, so I asked them what they wanted, and they fucking delivered.

Who is Litcadia for?

Anyone who reads, whether it's one book a year or one thousand (you feral beasties). If you are a casual reader who finishes a few books a year, or a series binge-reader, maybe an audiobook listener and/or a book club host, all are welcome. Litcadia is for anyone who wants to build a library, keep a TBR list and update their progress without a lot of fuss.

LC is minimal enough to stay out of your way, but packed with the things readers love. Including stats, and we all know readers love stats.

What you can do on Litcadia?

  • Build your library and TBR. Shelve books, keep a want-to-read list and track your progress, down to the percentage.

  • Take on LitQuests. Reading challenges and quests that make your next book feel like part of something bigger.

  • Share your reads. Make a Monthly Wrap-Up image of what you read, ready for your book club or your feed right here on LC.

  • Never lose your place in a series. Series tracking and community-made Series Guides keep your place.

  • See what’s coming. An Upcoming release calendar, plus a Trending shelf showing what other Litcadians are reading.

  • Can’t decide? LitPick chooses your next read from your own TBR or any shelf you’ve made.

  • Join the conversation. Post to LitStream, follow friends and see what everyone’s reading.
