I was pleasantly surprised by the writing and how vivid, evocative, and poetic it was. Some parts were questionable to my modern sensibilities (a blatant robbery of Irish culture by their colonizers, for example), but otherwise it felt like a true adventure — mysterious, unutterably mystical, almost ritualistic, and bittersweet. (It was a re-read, but, evidently, I retained nothing.)
