This was such an interesting read. I spent most of the book asking myself if the curse was real or not, even knowing from the beginning that Lori knows it’s her mother who cursed her. This book was told in three POV’s; our main character Elisa, her mother Lori and her grandmother Rose (who I do want to slap). I loved that even though we knew more than the mc did there were still so many questions we didn’t know the answers to. It was so powerful to see the story told from 3 different generations of women. It had you feeling for each of them while simultaneously cursing them for their choices. In the end though everything Lori did was for Elise, to keep her safe and give her a better life. But everything Rose did was for selfish reasons because she ended up resenting the life that she chose. The ending was not what I was expecting or necessarily rooting for but it was an enjoyable read. Romances seem to be a very tiny subplot in Sarah’s books and because of that I don’t find myself feeling connected to them at all, I almost wish they weren’t even included because they don’t really end up adding anything to the story.
